Last October a few friends and I headed for Sin City, Las Vegas, Nevada for a few days of relaxation and fun in the desert. Little did I know that my friend and co-worker Wil was also heading out there at the same time with his girlfriend for a little bit of same. After a few Facebook post and text messages we made plans for all of us to hook up one evening while we were there, but what happened was something I was totally unprepared for.
What makes Wil unique is that he marches to the beat of his own drum. He's not contempt with the ordinary, and he approaches everything from a different direction. I got to admit, it's pretty awesome.
So on the night of my party's arrival, we proceeded to hangout in the hotel bar for a little bit before heading out on the town. I was about four drinks in when I got a text message from Wil that said “Are you sober? I need a witness.” Now me being a dark minded individual I automatically think that he's in trouble, had a car wreck, already accrued a huge gambling debit, or maybe accidentally killed someone. I just figured he needs help before being buried out in the desert somewhere, I've seen Casino. I respond with, “Yeah, I'm good. Are you okay?” Thankfully I quickly receive a quick text back that says, “Yes, I need a witness to get married.”
Note: I was Wil's second choice for a witness. His first was a costumed Spongebob Square Pants but apparently he wasn't available.
So me and my buddy Chris headed down to the Clark County Courthouse (nothing like CSI) and watched the funniest, quickest wedding I've ever been a part of. I took my camera down there and I didn't even have enough time to get the settings correct on it. It was a funny experience.
Fast forward to February and we are up in Denton shooting engagements. But why you might ask? Because Monica and Wil are having a ceremony here for their family and friends on April 1st, yes April Fools Day! These two are definitely a perfect match for each other, constantly laughing and poking fun at everything. Wil has a watchful and caring eye for Monica, and Monica tries her best to keep Wil inline. I'm glad these two are happy, they have a pretty crazy and awesome story to begin their wedded life together.
I'm excited to be a part of your wedding day, I can't wait to see what kind of oddities you guys might have hidden up your sleeve!
Special thanks to my good friend Jessie Ingle of Featured Photography for joining us for the engagements. He busted out a few of his toys for this shoot and the results were fantastic. Salute to you sir!
